Product Test Technician
You work closely with engineering communities to develop, design, and facilitate performance and reliability testing on various engineered products and components. You partner with NPD and Sustaining Engineering to develop test procedures, methods, and test equipment to drive long‑term product reliability, product quality, and new product introductions.
Key Accountabilities
- Creates or optimizes test protocols for testing equipment to measure performance to product specification and support product development and discovery.
- Participate in the design, build and maintenance of test system used in the engineering labs.
- Design, develop and execute test protocols relating to industry standards and building codes.
- Consult with engineering regarding testing procedures and methods to ensure robust techniques and review all test results as required.
- Participate in formal risk analysis and guide development and test of components and systems.
- Participate in the competitive product evaluation process.
- Investigate and recommend test equipment needs and participate in purchasing and implementation of new and upgraded equipment.
- Work with Engineering in the development of product validation methods, plans and processes.
- Support activities to drive preventative maintenance, repair, and calibration of equipment.
- Support prototyping of new products with regards to machining, fabrication, and 3D printing.
- Actively track status of lab reports and lab improvements.
- Assist in the shipping and receiving of lab deliveries.
- Create purchase requisitions for lab equipment and consumables.
Qualifications / Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in technical fields related to manufacturing and testing or a combination of education and experience.
- Proven problem‑solving ability with root cause analysis.
- Experience with formal lab reports and test documentation.
- Experience in participating in multiple projects with cross‑functional teams.
- Proficiency with reading detail drawings and modifying or creating CAD files.
- Proficiency with measurement and inspection equipment.
- Proficiency with the operation of and troubleshooting of machine equipment.
- Experience with sound plumbing and building techniques.
- Ability to create and build prototypes from detail drawings and models.
- Experience with data acquisition and GCODE.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites.
- Detail oriented, self‑motivated, hands‑on individual.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
