Job summary

Avnet is seeking a Product Segment Manager for the North American region to own strategic management of a dedicated product technology, driving sales, margins, assets, and market share KPI’s.

You will lead lifecycle of products, manage supplier relationships, pricing, and cross-functional collaboration with marketing and sales, ensuring on-time strategy execution and strong customer satisfaction.

Job Summary:

The Product Segment Management has accountability and owns the strategic management of a specific product technology to achieve sales, margin, asset management and market share KPI’s while driving key supplier and customer satisfaction. The role has end-to-end responsibility for a dedicated Product Segment, across the entire North American Region.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for creating and driving the overall product strategy to achieve the defined sales, margin, asset management and market share KPI’s
  • Manages the product range - managing the portfolio of products throughout their life cycle – e.g. new technology and franchise negotiations and introductions, product range extensions, inventory depth decisions and exiting end of life products
  • Manages the full relationship and business development plans (including review meetings and industry events) within the product business unit to help achieve defined KPI’s/commercial terms.
  • Potential to lead the strategic relationship with suppliers that sit across several business units.
  • Accountable for the commercial and contractual supplier terms
  • Accountable for both the buy and sell price aspects of the product business unit to deliver margin growth and price sustainability.
  • Manages the overall inventory health : including budgets, influencing turns, line fill and provision & excess to achieve the defined KPI’s
  • Partners with stakeholders to ensure all marketing programs are planned and executed on time, Product strategy is communicated and training provided to sales teams and strategic e-commerce plans developed
  • Provides market insights and knowledge to influence the success of the business unit and wider company, including new suppliers, technology trends, and changes in customer demand within assigned portfolio including supplier market share data.
  • Administration of assigned products throughout their life cycle. Including; system maintenance, ensuring products are in the optimum saleable position, PDD co-ordination, product maintenance / housekeeping and ad-hoc analytics
  • Accountable for resolving customer issues including liaising with suppliers in multiple time-zones to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Cooperate with commercial marketing and suppliers to provide content for agreed marketing activities.

  • Extensive knowledge and application of principles, theories and concepts. Complete knowledge of all job functions and the broad industry best practices, techniques and standards.
  • Develops solutions to complex problems where analysis of situations and/or data requires in-depth evaluation of variables. Determine best approach to achieve results and provide suggestions to improve policies and procedures.
  • Work is performed independently and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Work may be reviewed at a high-level.
  • May represent the organization as primary contact on assignments and/or projects. Interacts with senior professionals and management and frequently coordinates work between departments or organizations.
  • Actions may impact the organization. Failure to accomplish work will result in the inability to reach crucial organizational goals. Erroneous decisions may have a prolonged effect resulting in the expenditure of substantial resources.
Work Experience:
  • Typically 5+ years with bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Education and Certification(s):
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.
