UDRI, the research arm of the University of Dayton, is seeking a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer focused on product development using Additive Manufacturing and conventional methods. The role involves reverse engineering, CAD design, 2D drawings with GD&T, and FEA analysis to support aerospace components and other equipment.

You will act as Product Owner through the project lifecycle, collaborating with multiple groups for manufacture and qualification testing.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 3+ years of product development experience.
  • 3+ years of CAD software experience, preferably SolidWorks.
  • 3+ years of experience in 2D drawing generation with GD&T.
  • 2+ years of simulation/FEA using an industry standard tool (e.g., ANSYS).
  • Experience reverse-engineering products/projects.
  • Familiar with casting, forging, extrusion, CNC machining, injection molding, thermoforming, etc.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform extensive research and write reports for internal/external use.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills with coworkers and clients at all levels.
  • Self-motivation with ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proven collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work on US government contracts.
  • U.S. citizen due to government contract requirements.

Responsabilités

  • Develop product delivery using Additive Manufacturing and conventional methods.
  • Support sustainment activities for aerospace components.
  • Create CAD designs and 2D drawings with GD&T accuracy.
  • Perform FEA analysis to support design decisions.
  • Lead product development steps as Product Owner across the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and qualification test teams.
  • Produce training materials as needed and participate in technical challenges.
  • Work in an agile environment with flexibility and attention to detail.
