Rooted in teamwork, inclusion, expertise, and community, we work together to serve better, achieve more, and build lasting impact.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Digital Solutions, the Sr. Agile Product Owner leads enterprise-scale product delivery and is accountable for core system modernization and other strategic initiatives across Builders Mutual. This role defines and aligns product strategy across multiple teams, ensuring delivery supports business objectives, operational efficiency, and long-term technology direction. The Sr. Product Owner serves as a key link between underwriting, operations, and technology, using strong partnership, prioritization, and data-driven decisions to drive value. This position operates at a program and portfolio level, shaping roadmap decisions, influencing cross-functional alignment, and guiding complex, high-impact work across the enterprise.

Because the success of our company is rooted in teamwork, the way we care about the people we work with and serve, this hybrid role will work in our Raleigh office a minimum of two days with the flexibility to work from home the remaining three days.

Your WORK as a Sr. IT Product Owner will make a difference as you:
  • Define and lead the product vision, roadmap, and delivery strategy for enterprise-scale initiatives, including core system modernization and other strategic programs.
  • Align product direction with enterprise goals, balancing business value, technical feasibility, operational readiness, and long-term architecture.
  • Lead product ownership across multiple Agile teams and interdependent workstreams to ensure coordinated, high-quality delivery.
  • Translate complex business initiatives into prioritized backlogs, release plans, and sequencing decisions across teams and programs.
  • Serve as the senior product leader for key business and technology stakeholders, driving alignment on priorities, scope, trade-offs, and investment decisions.
  • Facilitate executive-level communication on roadmap progress, risks, dependencies, and key decisions.
  • Own and govern product backlogs across teams, ensuring priorities reflect value, cost, risk, compliance, and strategic outcomes.
  • Partner with architecture, engineering, data, and vendor teams to deliver scalable solutions aligned with target-state systems and integration strategy.
  • Define, monitor, and use KPIs, business outcomes, and stakeholder feedback to assess success, optimize delivery, and improve adoption.
  • Identify and resolve cross-team dependencies, delivery constraints, and future-state gaps to support modernization, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Skills and Experience to Get the Job Done Right:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field with 5+ years of experience in Product Ownership, Product Management, or Business Analysis in Agile environments, including responsibility for highly complex or enterprise-level initiatives. Strong preference for experience in a property & casualty insurance environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, cross-functional, or enterprise system implementations with multiple stakeholders, dependencies, and delivery workstreams.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)
  • Experience managing cross-team dependencies, sequencing decisions, and delivery risk across complex programs or portfolios.
  • Proven ability to influence and align stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders, on priorities, trade-offs, and strategic direction.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a focus on value delivery
  • Experience working with product management and delivery tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps)
