PRODUCT MANAGER

American Polymer Company (APC) is a leading provider and manufacturer of underground vaults and products supporting utility infrastructure. Our products serve many industries and applications including water utility, irrigation, telecommunications, electrical, gas and other industrial applications. Our unwavering commitment to service, performance and adding value have quickly made us a trusted partner in the industry. We continue to innovate, manufacturing products in several methods such as traditional open pour precast, thermoplastic, thermoset, and other processes.

Position Overview

The Product Manager is responsible for leading both product planning and product marketing efforts. This role oversees the full product lifecycle, including gathering and prioritizing customer, market, and product requirements, defining the product vision, and establishing a long‑term roadmap. The Product Manager works closely with commercial and operational teams to deliver successful, market‑driven products.

This position also partners with sales, marketing, and customer support teams to achieve revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction objectives. In addition, the Product Manager leads the stage‑gate development process for new product initiatives, product line extensions, and gap‑filling opportunities, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall strategy and business goals.

The Product Manager will lead new product development and oversee the management of existing products within our portfolio. This role is responsible for driving product commercialization efforts across all markets. The Product Manager will operate at both a strategic level—shaping APC’s competitive positioning and optimizing product line performance—and a tactical level, managing product lifecycle activities and commercialization initiatives.

Duties
  • Develop and maintain the product line roadmap, defining clear value propositions for products and solutions across all markets
  • Lead product development through the stage‑gate process, including new product innovation, line extensions, and gap‑filling opportunities
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering to address key product performance requirements
  • Identify, pursue, and support new market opportunities across all relevant segments for assigned product lines
  • Analyze and benchmark competitor offerings to identify gaps and opportunities within the product portfolio
  • Expand market presence within target sectors and help identify new business opportunities beyond the current customer base
  • Provide technical support to customers and manufacturing teams, including site visits as needed to support opportunity development and problem‑solving efforts
  • Develop customer training materials and contribute to the creation of marketing content
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Proven ability to work cross‑functionally while balancing internal priorities and external customer needs
  • Highly motivated, results‑driven self‑starter with an entrepreneurial approach and a sense of urgency
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
  • 5+ years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in product management, product development, and/or product marketing
  • Experience with manufactured product for infrastructure applications in Communications, Data Centers, Energy, and/or Water
