Job description

Wolfspeed is looking for a Materials Product Manager primarily responsible for product management and technical marketing of Wolfspeed Materials. The focus of the position is on the global market, existing and future customers, and collaborating with internal technical and operations organizations in conjunction with inside and outside sales to translate technical requirements to and from the company. The role requires a creative and detail-oriented candidate who can break down and match customer requirements with internal technical capabilities, and who can find new and innovative ways to solve problems.

Position Responsibilities
  • Develop market requirement documents and product requirement documents with prioritized features, justification, target market applications, and business plan support.
  • Lead technical presentations with customers on technical issues related to the products and applications.
  • Champion internal development of new requirements to support customer demand and drive qualification of these products.
  • Partner with the quality team to manage quality issues with customers and synchronize with internal organizational teams.
  • Stay acutely aware of market trends and directions from direct customer interaction, conference attendance, and publication review.
  • Be an expert on competitors’ capabilities and product positioning in the market while understanding end‑market uses and requirements.
  • Work with sales on product specifications for special business opportunities.
  • Manage product portfolios from market launch through obsolescence of all wafers.
  • Interface with R&D, NPI engineering, Production/Operations, and Quality to build and sustain the product lines.
  • Develop and define product roadmaps for existing and future product lines.
  • Generate and distribute sales tools, application notes, and technical guidelines.
  • Understand cost models to support product pricing strategies.
Position Requirements
  • Degree in Materials Science, Semiconductor Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar technical degree.
  • 7-10 years of semiconductor product management, product engineering, product marketing, and/or applications engineering.
  • Good general knowledge of both sales and semiconductor product manufacturing processes.
  • Proven ability to influence cross‑functional teams without formal authority.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills to a broad audience of influences.
  • Comfortable with in‑person, high‑stakes meetings.
  • Willingness and flexible availability to travel, including internationally as necessary.
  • Ability to blend the technical and commercial to deliver a balanced approach to problems.
Preferred Skills and Certifications
  • Master’s Degree in Materials Science, Semiconductor Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar technical degree (PhD preferred but not required).
  • MBA preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of wide bandgap semiconductors, SiC crystal growth, wafer‑level processes, SiC epitaxial process, GaN epitaxial process, power and RF device fabrication, and device understanding is a plus.
  • Experience supporting customers, direct sales, and distribution partners.
  • Experience with new product launch and new business development.
  • Understanding and implementation of marketing approaches.
  • Understanding of basic semiconductor device technology.
