Job summary
UFP Industries is seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Designer / Product Development Manager with 5-7 years of leading product development and innovation from concept to commercialization. This role blends product leadership with innovation process deployment, tool implementation, and capability building within a cross-functional team.
The ideal candidate will drive adoption of innovation frameworks, facilitate workshops, coach teams, and establish repeatable processes to speed new product
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of product development experience.
- Experience developing physical products from concept to commercialization.
- Demonstrated success in structured product development environments.
- Experience collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and commercial teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of new physical product concepts from opportunity identification through launch.
- Translate customer needs and market insights into product solutions.
- Create and evaluate concepts, prototypes, and design specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to ensure feasibility and commercialization success.
- Lead projects through Innovation and Stage-Gate processes.
- Facilitate ideation sessions, design sprints, and innovation workshops.
- Apply Design Thinking and Lean Innovation to identify unmet market needs.
- Conduct customer interviews, ethnographic research, and usability studies.
- Monitor industry trends and new materials/manufacturing innovations.
