Job summary

Tether seeks a Product Engineering Lead to guide Keet's API and frontend teams, reporting to the CTO. You will own the how and set engineering bar, balancing ~70% leadership with ~30% product responsibilities, across a distributed stack.

You’ll collaborate with product managers to translate roadmaps into buildable work, ensure high-quality APIs, and mentor team leads while leveraging AI tools for rapid iteration.

Qualifications

• Experience leading API and frontend teams.
• Proven track record shipping consumer apps (chat/calling/social).
• Strong JS/React skills and distributed systems intuition.

Responsibilities

• Run the API and frontend teams day to day, unblocking and shipping.
• Set and uphold a high engineering bar for performance and reliability.
• Own the technical design of features and the API surface between Keet's core and the app.
• Collaborate with deep tech teams on code reviews and design.
• Work with product managers to translate roadmaps into buildable work.
• Push back when scope and reality don’t match and propose better paths.
• Bring an engineering perspective to product decisions, especially for P2P advantages.
• Move the team fast using AI tools and rapid prototyping.
• Create clarity around team goals and measure success.
• Mentor team leads to improve operations and leadership skills.
• Lead by example and own accountability.
• Experience managing engineers who ship consumer products, ideally in chat/calling/social apps.
• Strong product sense: distinguish good features from busy ones.
• Intuition for distributed/local-first systems; knowledge of offline-first designs.
• Bonus: open source experience.
