Job summary

HSM is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to drive development of furniture, bedding, and durable goods components. You will own design, feasibility studies, and verification activities, coordinating with QA, regulatory, and manufacturing teams.

You will translate customer needs into robust product recommendations, maintain roadmaps and target costs, and ensure documentation and BOMs are up to date. Travel up to 25% to support across facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Product Design, or related engineering field.
• 5+ years in product engineering or development in manufacturing.
• Experience taking products from concept through launch and market research.
• Ability to translate customer needs into product recommendations.
• Knowledge of roadmaps, cost targets, margins, and commercialization.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Inventor).
• Experience with ISO 9001 and product design controls.
• Experience with structured root-ccause analysis methods (8D, Five Why, Fishbone, A3).
• Experience with ERP/PLM systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Identify product opportunities by researching customer needs and markets.
• Shape product strategy with briefs, cost targets, and roadmaps.
• Design and develop components and finished products with appropriate materials.
• Plan feasibility studies, proof-of-concept builds, and tests.
• Coordinate prototypes, lab testing, and design verification with QA/regulatory.
• Support production launches from concept through tooling and stabilization.
• Review data to recommend product improvements for safety, quality, and cost.
• Collaborate with teams, manage requirements, and communicate risks.
