Job summary

Esri is seeking an entry-level product engineer to test ArcGIS Location Platform services, improve the developer dashboard, and create examples and documentation. You’ll collaborate with engineers, designers, PMs, and writers to grow your product and communication skills.

You will help design test plans, prototypes, samples, and tutorials while supporting onboarding, credentials, usage, and billing experiences for developers. Occasional travel for events is possible.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of programming experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, .NET, or similar language.
  • Basic understanding of web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with APIs, JSON, HTTP, or software testing.
  • Familiarity with Git or another source-control system.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, GIS, interaction design, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Test ArcGIS Location Platform services, APIs, and developer workflows and document issues.

Overview

Join the team building ArcGIS Location Platform, Esri’s platform as a service for developers creating mapping and location-based applications. As an entry-level product engineer, you will help test new services and capabilities, improve the website and developer dashboard, create useful examples and documentation, and support developer outreach. You will work with engineers, designers, product managers, and technical writers while developing broad product and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Familiarity with Git or another source-control system
  • An interest in mapping, cloud services, developer tools, product design, or technical communication
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively, ask questions, and learn from feedback
  • Willingness to present technical work and travel occasionally for events
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, GIS, interaction design, or a related field

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is $70,304 - $109,200 USD
