Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Product Engineer I to provide sustaining engineering support for UAV systems used in military and commercial contexts.

You will perform design modifications to structural components, electro-mechanical assemblies, payloads, and launch systems, plus develop prototype hardware and verify through testing. You will manage manufacturing drawings and BOMs, support design reviews, coordinate with project managers, suppliers and manufacturing to ensure timely production,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• 0-2 years of related experience in an engineering design environment.
• Experience with unmanned aerial systems (UAVs) or RF, digital, and communications electronics is a plus.
• Experience with product configuration management and Agile PLM is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sustains engineering support related to a product line.
• Manages product line configuration and change orders in Agile PLM system.
• Acts as a technical point of contact for ongoing support and change initiation.
• Assists in proposal & report writing, review of contracts for production orders.
• Helps coordinate the transition for new products and product variants into production.
• Coordinates the release and update of engineering design documentation, manuals, BOMs, procedures, and tooling.
• Coordinates development, testing and release of product improvements with stakeholders.
• Provides obsolescence management for the product line.
• Provides customer support for failure analysis and technical content.
• Works with suppliers, purchasing and planning to resolve production issues.

Includes design modifications of structural components, electro-mechanical assemblies, payloads, ground equipment, launching systems, flight control actuators, prototype hardware development, performing design verification testing, and configuration management of products.
