Job summary

DRiV Maryland Heights seeks a Product Engineer to provide engineering support for the Aftermarket Braking Division, focusing on new product introductions, testing approvals, and coordinating Ford and Mazda launches with vendors.

The role requires 1–3 years in automotive brake engineering, strong Excel/data-analysis skills, and collaboration with labs and suppliers to ensure compliant, high-quality friction products.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years automotive brake engineering/manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with friction formula dynamometer analysis preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel to maintain records and graphs for benchmarking.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate inertia-dynamometer testing for friction products with testing labs.
  • CHASE testing (SAE J866).
  • Environmental/chemical testing (SAE J2975).
  • AMECA edge code registration.
  • Maintain historical test database, analyzing and incorporating report results from testing labs.
  • Manage test component inventory for dynamometer testing and ship to labs.
  • Prioritize testing based on changing requirements and schedule with labs.
  • Prepare benchmarking studies to qualify new supplier formulas.
  • Coordinate dyno testing for rotor coating interaction with friction.
  • Coordinate salt spray testing per ASTM-B117 for rotors, calipers, zinc coated back plates and new vendor disc pad paint.
  • Evaluate new testing labs for faster, more competitive testing.
  • Understand Ford and Mazda testing requirements for new applications and coordinate testing plans.
  • Review and approve all MDS (Material Data Sheets) submissions.
  • Conduct drawing reviews for purchased friction products.
  • PPAP reviews and submissions to Ford for DRiV products.
