Job summary

Gerber Gear in Portland, OR is seeking a Product Engineer to advance new consumer products from concept to production. You will blend mechanical engineering, hands-on prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver reliable, manufacturable designs.

You will create 3D CAD models, develop specs with GD&T, evaluate prototypes, and drive projects from concept through production while aligning with quality, cost, and timing goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 3+ years in consumer product design.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering concepts.
• Experience managing projects from concept through implementation.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative consumer products from concept through production.
• Create 3D CAD models using SolidWorks or similar CAD systems.
• Develop concepts and mechanical designs balancing performance, manufacturability, cost, and user needs.
• Build and evaluate prototypes to validate designs and identify improvements.
• Develop technical specifications and drawing packages including GD&T and test procedures.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Marketing, Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
• Support product readiness with proper documentation and compliance.
