Job summary

Responsibilities

Howmet Aerospace is a leading global provider of advanced engineered solutions for the aerospace and transportation industries. The Company’s primary businesses focus on jet engine components, aerospace fastening systems, titanium structural parts, and forged wheels for commercial transportation.

The Product Engineer position will be in our Wichita Falls, Texas facility and will support manufacturing through process control, improvement initiatives, and assume direct responsibility for integrity of assigned products. This involves quoting new developmental parts, attending to product engineering concerns, assisting with obtaining new business, working to improve existing processes, developing new technologies, and providing technical support to Howmet Aerospace, Wichita Falls.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plans and formulates engineering programs within assigned responsibility area.
  • Implements and reviews process design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Supports activities concerning technical development, customer issues, cost reduction programs and resolves engineering design and test problems.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Prepares interim and completion project reports as necessary.
  • Provides technical support for assigned coating, brazing and/or manufacturing area.
  • Interfaces with production personnel regarding processing requirements; interacts with suppliers and customers on technical issues.
  • Performs process quality investigations as required.
  • Develops and implements process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Designs tools and fixtures pertinent to processing.
  • Generates material requisitions to initiate procurement.
  • Translates customer requirements into usable work instructions and interfaces with customers on technical issues.
  • Reviews purchase orders, specifications and blueprints for impact.
  • Assembles data packages for customer approval.
  • Specifies processing and generates work instructions.
  • Actively pursues elimination of waste, improvement of equipment reliability and efficiency, and reduction of operating costs, employing statistical methods as necessary.
  • Continuously improves performance of job‑related responsibilities.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility required at hire. Visa sponsorship is not available.
  • Access to export‑controlled items as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution in Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical or Industrial disciplines.
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment; good organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and scientific methods for problem solving.
