Job summary

Ando, a messaging platform building AI-assisted collaboration, seeks founding engineers to shape the product from first principles. You will work on fast, memory-rich infrastructure and an agent platform used by external developers.

You’ll operate at the frontier of LLMs and agents, contribute to memory and retrieval systems, and help define how humans and AI collaborate. This is a high-ownership role with generous equity and a strong emphasis on craft and velocity.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of full time SWE work.
• Deep interest in the quirks of LLMs and agents, memory systems, tool use.
• Ability to work very fast without cutting corners on quality.

Responsibilities

• Architect and ship core messaging infrastructure that feels sturdy and is super fast.
• Contribute to MCP/API + agent developer platform + sandbox system used by outside builders.
• Work on memory and retrieval systems.
• Design proactive agent orchestration layer.
• Prototype new interaction patterns for human-agent collaboration.
• Raise engineering craft, assist with recruiting, maintain quality.
• Dogfood the platform daily.

Ando is a messaging platform where AI agents can take on work alongside human. We’re rebuilding Slack from the ground up around two core ideas: durable memory and agents as first-class participants.

While we are pushing the frontier, we still have classic messaging challenges to address. Ando has to feel faster, lighter, and more delightful than the tools people use today. The bar is high. People need to want to spend hours of their working lives in Ando, and then convince their teammates and friends to do the same.

We’re looking for founding engineers who are excited by that challenge: building a product from first principles, shaping the future of how humans and AI collaborate, and dogfooding what they build every day.
