Job summary

Eaton's Power Distribution and Controls Assemblies division is hiring Product Engineers to design and document electrical and mechanical aspects of power distribution equipment. Relocation to multiple US facilities is offered, with a clear salary range and growth opportunities.

You will collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and purchasing, prepare detailed drawings and BOMs, and lead change control processes while building expertise in design automation tools and project coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required or enrollment with graduation before July 2027.
• GPA 2.8+ is required; no rounding allowed.
• Geographical relocation to Eaton facilities in the US is required.
• Internship/Co-op experience in related fields is required.

Responsibilities

• Consult with plant and field sales engineers to define new equipment applications.
• Develop complex drawings and BOMs from established designs with sufficient detail.
• Coordinate mechanical and electrical interfaces with other products.
• Advise Design, Manufacturing and Purchasing to ensure proper production.
• Manage purchaser onsite visits to approve/release equipment for shipping.
• Manage Engineering Change Notices and related documentation.

Eaton’s Power Distribution and Controls Assemblies business within the Electrical Sector is currently seeking Product Engineers to join our team.

These positions can be based in one of our manufacturing locations in either Asheville, NC, Fayetteville, NC, Sumter, SC, Greenwood, SC, or El Paso, TX, and will offer relocation assistance.

The Product Engineer (often internally referred to as a Custom Order Engineer or COE) is primarily responsible for providing electrical and mechanical design and documentation support for power distribution or control product lines. This includes, but is not limited to engineering designs, collaborating with application engineers and manufacturing associates, utilization of design automation software, and producing/maintaining manufacturing documentation.

Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The expected annual salary range for this role is $75,000 - $90,000 a year.

What You’ll Do

• Consult with plant and field sales engineers in interpreting and defining new equipment applications.
• Develop a variety of complex drawings and bills-of-material based upon established product designs, which provides sufficient detail to accurately convey the purchaser’s equipment application.
• Coordinate mechanical and electrical interfaces with other products.
• Advise Drafting/Design, Manufacturing, and Purchasing – when required – in interpreting information for the accurate production of equipment in accordance with the purchaser’s requirements.
• Manage purchaser onsite visits to approve and/or release equipment for shipping.
• Manage Manufacturing and Engineering Change Notices.
• Demonstrate advanced computer skills with ability to learn required software (Bid Manager, AutoCAD, Design Automation, MAPICS).
• Consult with Quality in resolving issues after the equipment is shipped, when required.
• Conduct special development/application projects of a complex nature.
• Inform cost and cycle time improvement activities.
• Conduct technical training guidance and seminars, as required.
• Analyze needs and recommend revisions to Department Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications

Required Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution OR currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution with an expected graduation date before July 2027.
• Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8 (please don't round)

• Must be geographical flexibile to relocate within the United States to an Eaton facility including: Asheville, NC, Fayetteville, NC, Sumter, SC, Greenwood, SC, or El Paso, TX

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
• Electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing Internship/Co-Op experience
• Knowledge of power distribution products (LV and MV Switchgear, Panelboards and Switchboards, Motor Control Centers, etc.)
• Experience with PLC or relay programming
• Experience with AutoCAD
• Project Management experience

• Knowledge of the fundamentals of electrical and mechanical engineering
