Job summary

Micro-Coax, an Amphenol Company, is seeking a Product Engineer to support quote and order release processes for customized made‑to‑print products. The role focuses on tailoring engineering activities to a defined customer base and ensuring alignment with company capabilities.

The position involves reviewing quotes, defining BOMs and routing, coordinating with Purchasing and engineering teams, and developing manufacturing documentation to enable on‑time production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or related field required.
  • Master's degree or MBA desirable for advanced roles.
  • Co‑op experience in engineering preferred.
  • Experience in custom make‑to‑order manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review quotes, contracts and specifications for made‑to‑print items to ensure customer requirements.
  • Provide quote and order information to Sales to meet lead‑time targets.
  • Develop made‑to‑print items and define BOM and manufacturing router structures.
  • Provide cost information to Sales for quotation purposes.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to identify sources of supply for new materials.
  • Create/revise purchase specifications to control item requirements.
  • Develop manufacturing documentation and release orders per production schedule.
  • Coordinate with Process Engineering for new processes and pilot runs.
  • Coordinate with Applications Engineering when quoting new opportunities.
  • May serve as back‑up for Process Engineering as necessary.
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and Company

Job description

SUMMARY

The Product Engineer performs engineering activities related to the quote and order release processes for customized made to print products. The Product Engineer is typically assigned to support a certain customer base or market segment of the Company.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Performs Quote/Contract/Specification Review for made-to-print Items against company capabilities and takes actions as required to ensure compliance with customer requirements
  • Provides quote and order information to Sales in order to meet quote and order confirmation lead‑time targets
  • Develops made to print items
  • Defines item, bill of material (BOM) and manufacturing router structure. Provides cost information to sales for quotation purposes
  • Works with purchasing to identify sources of supply when new materials or components are required
  • Creates/revises purchase specifications to control the requirements of purchased items
  • Develops manufacturing documentation (Process Control Documents, Final Inspection Reports) and releases orders per production schedule
  • Coordinates with Process Engineering for any new processes requiring engineering oversight, pilot runs etc.
  • Coordinates with Applications Engineering when quoting new opportunities
  • May serve as a back‑up for Process Engineering as necessary

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of this role do not include supervising other employees; however, Product Engineer positions have opportunities for advancement.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or related field
  • Master's degree in Engineering management, Systems Engineering or MBA desirable
  • Previous Engineering co‑op experience in an applicable field
  • Manufacturing experience in a custom make‑to‑order environment is preferred
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
JOB SKILLS
  • Firm understanding of Micro‑Coax products, capabilities and manufacturing processes, specifically cable, cable assemblies, connectors and harnesses
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills to include Microsoft 365 tools
  • Able to effectively utilize configurator tools and other reference documents to determine capabilities
  • Repeatedly demonstrates success to effectively organizing, planning and executing Product Engineering activities from start to finish
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

As part of their job duties, the employee must be able to sit, stand and walk throughout the day while frequently using their hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to reach, stretch, push, pull, crouch, stoop and occasionally lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas
  • Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety‑rated glasses in specific areas
  • Hearing protection in specific locations
  • Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas
