Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated in Leeds, AL, is seeking an experienced design/manufacturing engineer to support product development, maintenance, and production release for high voltage transmission line hardware and substation components.

You will lead cross-functional efforts with Marketing, Production, Quality, and Field Sales, maintain AutoCAD/Inventor files, drive lean initiatives, and provide technical support across the product lifecycle with limited travel.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in design, product, or manufacturing engineering roles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team environment.
  • AutoDesk Inventor 2D/3D knowledge and Microsoft Office proficiencies.
  • Ability to travel on business related trips; able to work on a PC and inspect/test products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product line maintenance efforts (drawing updates, engineering change requests, MTO/ETO support, testing, and interfacing with various departments).
  • Maintain and create AutoCAD and AutoDesk Inventor 2-D/3-D files for tooling development and manufacturing needs.
  • Shop floor and product development support for Quality, Operations, Sourcing, and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Lead material cost takeout, scrap reduction, productivity, and DtV initiatives.
  • Engineer new designs and product line extensions for high voltage transmission line hardware and substation components.
  • Participate in lean initiatives related to product line development, support, and maintenance.
  • Perform or oversee mechanical and electrical testing for development and maintenance.
  • Review customer specifications and provide solutions; develop new products when existing offerings don’t meet needs.
  • Provide technical assistance to Marketing, Customer Service, Field Sales and Customers.
  • Limited travel for off-site testing, marketing support, field reviews, or training.

Support designated product line in the areas of product development, product line maintenance, production release, production support, and product applications. This position will require working with a variety business departments including: Marketing, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, New Product Engineering, Customer Service, Field Sales and Management.

  • Lead product line maintenance efforts (drawing updates, engineering change requests, MTO/ETO support, testing, and interfacing with various departments including operations, manufacturing engineering, sourcing, new product development & quality departments)
  • Maintain and create AutoCAD and AutoDesk Inventor 2-D and 3-D files needed for tooling development and manufacturing needs.
  • Shop floor and product development support for Quality, Operations, Sourcing, and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Lead material cost takeout, scrap reduction, productivity, and DtV initiatives
  • Engineering new designs and product line extensions, with a focus on high voltage transmission line hardware and substation components
  • Participate in or lead lean initiatives related to product line development, support, and maintenance.
  • Perform or oversee mechanical and electrical testing required for product development and maintenance.
  • Review of customer specifications and requirements for project needs and provide solutions with existing product offering combinations. For instances where existing product offerings do not exist, part modifications or new products will need to be developed.
  • Provide technical assistance to Marketing, Customer Service, Field Sales and Customers in the areas of product performance, applications, and maintenance.
  • Very limited travel requirements involving off-site testing of products, marketing support, field review of product applications, or training activities.

  • Ability to travel on business related trips (limited travel needs); ability to communicate; ability to work on a personal computer or other related equipment as required; able to walk around the manufacturing shop floor and lift products as needed (part inspection, part fit check, product testing, etc.)
