Job summary

Managed Programs is seeking a Product Engineer to design and develop automotive composite components for customer specs. You will integrate materials, methods, and tooling to bring new products to market, coordinating engineers, technicians, and suppliers across functions.

You will lead DFMEA and DVP&R efforts, manage BOMs in Plex ERP, support PPAP processes, and drive successful prototype and production builds through clear problem resolution and resource management.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing automotive composite products for market release.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA, DVP&R and PPAP activities in product launches.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams and coordinate suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute project plans to meet program deadlines and launches.
  • Create and maintain DFMEA and DVP&R documentation.
  • Evaluate design options and provide feedback to engineers.
  • Lead technicians, test labs, and CAE engineers to complete DV and PV.
  • Create and maintain BOMs and Process Routings in Plex ERP.
  • Support PPAP activities and secure customer approval.
  • Draft RFQ documents and lead component selection.
  • Assist with purchasing and supplier communications.
  • Provide direction to team members and allocate resources efficiently.
  • Draft installation instructions for end-use customers.
  • Sign-off on design drawings and supplier PPAP.
  • Support prototype and production builds.

Job Purpose/Summary: This position is responsible for designing and developing automotive composite products to meet customer specifications or sales department requests. Working with the engineering team and manufacturing department, the product engineer is responsible for the integration of materials, methods, and tools necessary to bring new products to the market.

Duties/Essential Job Functions:

  • 1. Develop and execute project plans by meeting program deadlines, customer requirements, and successful launch
  • 2. Create and maintain DFMEA and DVP&R
  • 4. Evaluate trade-offs between design options and provide feedback to design engineers
  • 5. Lead engineering technicians, external test labs, and CAE engineers to complete DV and PV
  • 6. Create and maintain BOMs and Process Routings in ERP system like Plex
  • 7. Assist all PPAP activities and ensure the launch process succeeds, including obtaining customer PPAP approval
  • 8. Create RFQ documents and lead component selection
  • 9. Assist with purchasing, supplier selection, and all technical communications with suppliers
  • 10. Provide direction and leadership to other team members to create and manage each aspect of the program, resolve disputes, and assure appropriate resources are utilized efficiently
  • 11. Draft professional product installation instructions for end-use customers.
  • 12. Responsible for sign-off on design and drawings before release
  • 13. Responsible for sign-off on supplier PPAP
  • 14. Support prototype and production builds
  • 15. All other duties, as assigned to support product development and manufacturing
