Job summary

Thuma is seeking a Product Development Manager in San Francisco to lead end-to-end product development for furniture and home goods. You will partner with Design, Sourcing and manufacturing partners to ensure design integrity, quality, and cost targets while driving timelines from concept to production readiness.

You will manage cross-functional teams, review CAD drawings, and explore new materials and finishes to advance Thuma’s aesthetic. Hybrid work with in-office presence 3–5 days per week.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Product Development or related roles within furniture and home furnishings.

Responsibilities

• Execute end-to-end product development lifecycle for assigned categories, from concept through commercialization
• Partner closely with Design to bring concepts to life while maintaining brand intent, quality, and cost targets
• Collaborate with Sourcing to identify and engage the right manufacturing partners
• Drive development timelines, ensuring milestones are met and risks are flagged early
• Support prototyping and iteration cycles to refine design, materials, and overall product experience
• Manage day-to-day communication with vendors throughout the development process
• Partner with Sourcing on cost targets and value optimization without compromising design integrity
• Help refine product specifications and documentation to support clear execution
• Partner with Sourcing and Compliance to ensure products meet regulatory and quality standards
• Support pilot runs and ensure readiness for production
• Partner cross-functionally to ensure a smooth transition from development to production and launch
• Identify opportunities to improve development processes, tools, and ways of working
• Contribute to innovation in materials, finishes, and overall product experience
• Support special projects and new category exploration
• Review vendor specifications, finishes and CAD drawings to confirm alignment with design intent
• Access prototype quality and craftsmanship, create quality control summaries to share with manufacturing partners
• Flexibility to join evening calls with international manufacturing partners
