Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Livonia, Michigan, is seeking a 10 speed transmission systems engineer to own integration of 10R RWD propulsion into vehicle spaces and manage DV/PV strategies. You will lead teams, investigate root causes, and coordinate with component engineers to improve quality and customer experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of calibration and vehicle data collection knowledge.
  • Caltools experience preferred; ATI, etc.
  • The D&R Engineer is responsible for managing product release CAD and BOM structures, including assembly positioning and mass attribute analysis. This role also includes facilitating supplier data integration and developing CAD studies to support and drive design improvements.
  • Hands‑on problem solver and strong root cause skills.
  • Independent, self-starter when required.
  • Good communicator and can foster relationships with suppliers.
  • A “be curious” and “continued improvement” mindset.
  • A strong drive to both learn from and teach others.

  • Must be in Livonia Michigan 4 days a week or more depending on specific testing/hardware needs.
  • Work with Ford Powertrain Manufacturing and Ford Vehicle Assembly Plants on manufacturing related improvement actions. Short term travel may be required.
  • Must be approved to travel globally.

In this position

This is the 10 speed transmission systems engineer position responsible for integration into vehicle space. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter and owns the product and delivers the cost, quality and vehicle milestone requirements on time. We need qualified people to help us succeed in this critical area that is responsible from program initiation through launch and ongoing production.

The 10R Transmission Team

We are looking for engineers to help design, validate and launch the future Rear Wheel Propulsion Systems as well as manage current model customer and help evaluate current warranty trends, deep dive field issues while working with component and system design and release engineers, manufacturing plants, calibration, service teams.

What You'll Do

Minimum Requirements

This position is a salary grade 6-8 and ranges from $84,300 - $166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
