Job summary

Mattel in El Segundo, CA is seeking a focused, technical engineering professional to drive technical product innovation and translate concepts into manufacturable toy solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers through product development lifecycles.

You will define functional specs, assist in engineering BOM, and support CPI corrective actions, with a growth mindset and hands-on CAD experience (SolidWorks or Creo) preferred.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in an Engineering discipline preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Fundamental understanding of engineering principles and practices.
• General knowledge of plastic production processes and assembly techniques for plastic products.
• Knowledge of materials (textiles, plastics) and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge and experience in CAD software (SolidWorks or Creo).
• Understanding of statistics and probabilities.
• Demonstrated growth mindset and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

• Provides feedback to design & PMs during initial concept stages to determine feasibility of planned toy.
• Assists with development of new mechanisms to achieve toy functionality goals; creates breadboard models as needed.
• Assists in creating engineering BOM and translating design vision into technical specs for development houses, tooling, plants.
• Assists in defining product function through Functional Spec and performs standardized engineering tasks guided by instructions.
• Communicates effectively with cross-functional partners and learns Mattel processes and practices.

The Opportunity:

This position is a focused, technical engineering role responsible for supporting and helping to drive technical product innovation and the development of creative new product concepts into manufacturable solutions. This position also provides project support to more senior engineers acting as mentors to help gain experience. This position serves as focal point for driving technical engineering solutions on new product concepts to ensure financial targets, schedule, and adherence to specified safety and quality standards. The position also drives Brand level value engineering and advanced product quality planning. The job role also serves as a technical engineering liaison with Operations and collaborates with the cross functional New Product Development Team to support efficient flow of new product concepts through the new product development lifecycles. This job also supports team level corrective action programs administered by CPI.

• Emphasis on learning to incorporate Mattel's processes, procedures and practices with knowledge acquired through formal education or professional experience.
• Primarily works on products in establishedpathway.
• Communicate and cooperate with cross-functionalpartners.

What We’re Looking For:

• BA/BS degree in an Engineering discipline preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Fundamental understanding of common Engineering principles and practices.
• General knowledge of plastic production processes and assembly techniques for plasticproducts.
• Somewhat diversified procedures and specialized standards guide their thinking.
• Knowledge of various Raw materials; textiles, plastics, etc., in addition to the Manufacturing Process.
• Knowledge and experience in CADSoftware(like SolidWorks or Creo).
• Understanding of Statistics and probabilities.
• Demonstrated agrowth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
