Job description

ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.
At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we’re looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don’t shy away from humanity’s challenges but are determined to help solve them.

AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward.

The Role

The Product Development Group is seeking a Product Development Engineer to help deliver next-generation datacenter platforms powered by AMD CPU and GPU technologies. Supporting AI, Machine Learning (ML), and High-Performance Computing (HPC) workloads, these systems are deployed in some of the world's most demanding datacenter environments.

In this role, you will work across hardware, firmware, software, manufacturing, and operations teams to drive products from initial system bring-up through validation, manufacturing readiness, production ramp, and volume deployment. You will have the opportunity to solve complex system-level challenges, influence product quality and reliability, and contribute to innovative technologies that power the future of AI infrastructure.

The Person

You are a hands-on engineer with a passion for solving complex technical problems and improving how products are developed, tested, and manufactured. You enjoy collaborating across disciplines, digging into system-level issues, and driving solutions that improve quality, efficiency, and customer success. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, bring strong analytical skills, and are motivated by working on leading-edge datacenter technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive system bring-up, validation, and debug activities for AMD datacenter platforms, including boards, servers, and rack-scale systems.
  • Develop and execute validation strategies to ensure product quality, performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Investigate and resolve complex hardware, firmware, and software issues across CPU, GPU, memory, networking, power, thermal, and platform subsystems.
  • Partner with silicon, board, BIOS, firmware, software, manufacturing, and operations teams to enable successful product development and deployment.
  • Develop and support manufacturing test, diagnostic, and automation solutions that improve product readiness and factory efficiency.
  • Analyze validation and production data to identify root causes, improve yield, and drive corrective actions.
  • Support new product introductions, manufacturing ramp activities, and high-volume production.
  • Influence product quality and testability through DFT reviews, process improvements, and engineering best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership through problem solving, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring of junior engineers.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in system validation, product development, test engineering, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with datacenter, server, storage, CPU, GPU, or accelerator-based platforms.
  • Understanding of AI infrastructure, AI workloads, or large-scale computing environments.
  • Experience debugging system-level hardware, firmware, and software issues.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or similar.
  • Knowledge of technologies including PCIe, networking, memory architectures, power delivery, thermal management, and system firmware.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across global teams.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Advanced degree is a plus.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
