Job summary

You will create 3D CAD models in SolidWorks, translate customer needs into designs, and support launches with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering preferred.
• Experience in Product Development Engineering required.
• Experience with thermoforming, vacuum forming, or complex assemblies preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and drive new product design and development initiatives.

• Design prototypes; reverse engineer existing products as needed.

Position Summary

The Product Development Engineer is responsible for leading product design and development efforts from concept through production. This role requires strong technical expertise, creativity, and collaboration across sales, manufacturing, and engineering teams to develop cost-effective, manufacturable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and drive new product design and development initiatives
• Translate customer and sales concepts into manufacturable designs
• Create 3D CAD models and detailed designs using SolidWorks

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Product Development Engineering required
• Experience with thermoforming, vacuum forming, or complex assemblies preferred
• Project management experience (preferred)

Required Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in SolidWorks and 3D CAD modeling
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining and fabrication
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and prints
• Mechanical aptitude and understanding of product assembly
• Familiarity with plastic materials and their applications
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a deadline-driven environment
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Adaptability and ability to quickly learn new systems and processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with 3- and 5-axis CNC machining and vacuum forming
• Familiarity with marine or similar industries
• Experience working within a PDM system
