Job summary

MillenniumSoft Inc in Milwaukee invites an Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary Innovation team focusing on medical technologies and new drug delivery systems. You will report to the Senior Manager of Innovation and contribute to high-visibility R&D projects across the portfolio.

The role requires planning and executing key deliverables, generating creative solutions to complex problems, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Background in biotechnology or medical device design.
  • Experience with engineering design practices and computational methods.
  • Working knowledge of biology and human physiology to solve biomedical problems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments to characterize medical technologies (benchtop and in vivo).
  • Provide technical direction for ideation, prototype development, and evaluations.
  • Analyze data and statistics to drive project decisions.
  • Communicate results clearly to stakeholders with varying technical levels.
  • Understand customer needs through literature reviews and technology assessments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address unmet needs.

Job description


  • The Engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary Innovation team supporting a variety of medical technologies and solutions with an initial focus on new drug delivery systems.

  • Reporting to the Senior Manager of Innovation, this is a technical position where the engineer will contribute significantly to exciting, high visibility projects and collaborations across the R&D portfolio.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing key project deliverables, which includes generating creative solutions to complex technical problems.

  • An aptitude for technological program management and communication to both internal and external stakeholders is required.

  • A professional background in biotechnology and/or medical device design is strongly preferred.

  • The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of engineering design, computational modeling, analytical techniques, biology, and human physiology to solve multidisciplinary biomedical problems.

  • The Engineer must be able to effectively collaborate with team members from varying backgrounds and should have strong oral and written communication skills.

  • The successful candidate will have an interest in technically contributing to areas beyond medical devices and drug delivery systems over time due to the dynamic nature of the Innovation team and its programs.


pay range -$25-30/hr


Work days are Monday - Friday

Job Responsibilities: (Primary Duties, Roles, and/or Authorities)


  • Design and conduct appropriate experiments (benchtop and in vivo) to characterize the performance of medical technologies, which may include protocol and novel method development.

  • Provide technical direction to advance medical device design including ideation, prototype development, and bench/in vivo evaluations.

  • Conduct data and statistical analysis efforts of experimental results to generate conclusions to drive project directions.

  • Communicate results effectively (oral and written) to key stakeholders of varying technical abilities.

  • Understand customer needs through literature review, technology assessments, and ethnographic research.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to develop technology solutions that address prioritized unmet needs.


Education And Experience


  • Degree in engineering (biomedical, mechanical, etc.) or science discipline (chemistry, biology, etc.). Advanced degree preferred.

  • Experience: PhD, MS + 2 years of relevant industry experience, or BS + 4 years of relevant industry experience is required

  • Experience in experimental design, data analysis, statistics, and technical writing

  • Experience working within a matrixed organization is preferred


Required

Knowledge and Skills:


  • Ability to plan and conduct scientific experiments and effectively analyze, interpret, report, and present experimental results

  • Experience contributing to multidisciplinary teams including the ability to influence without direct reporting ties

  • Experience with in vivo animal models and medical device development

  • Ability to translate an issue or problem statement into study strategy

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in program and project priorities

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and team collaboration


Preferred Skills


  • Experience working under a quality system

  • Knowledge of drug delivery systems

  • Image processing and analysis

  • Programming (e.g., Python, Matlab) and/or graphical design (e.g., SolidWorks or other equivalent 3D modeling)

  • Knowledge of statistics and use of statistical packages for analyzing datasets


Work Environment: (if applicable)


  • The candidate is expected to work in a research lab environment and may require working with chemicals, in vivo models, and biological materials (blood, tissues, etc.)
