Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Systems Requirements Engineer to lead the development of detailed software-level interfaces and functional specifications for the UCM program. You will ensure end-to-end traceability from vehicle-level requirements to module interfaces within JAMA.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and safety specialists to deliver compliant, testable requirements, support validation, and drive efficient software delivery across Ford-related programs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in the automotive industry.
• Strong knowledge of Embedded software, Electronics, Systems Engineering and functional specifications.
• Degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
• M.S. degree preferred.
• Experience with software development and software requirements (preferred).
• Experience with MS Office and CANalyzer; diagnostics tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements elicitation and management for UCM interfaces in JAMA.
• Define core module features: cell balancing, SoC, SoH, thermal management, power electronics.
• Coordinate with FSS on SOW/RFQ, manage change control.
• Incorporate ISO 26262, HARA, FSR, TSR in safety work.
• Manage CAN, LIN, and UDS interfaces and diagnostics.
• Conduct cross-functional reviews with Ford teams and suppliers.
• Support validation and HIL testing with traceable requirements.
• Foster agile collaboration between JIRA Saga owners, product owners, and supplier teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead Requirements Elicitation & Management: Own the development of detailed software-level interface and functional specifications for the UCM in JAMA, ensuring full traceability from vehicle-level requirements down to module interfaces.
• Support Key UCM Functions: Establish requirements for core module features, including cell balancing, State of Charge (SoC), State of Health (SoH), thermal management, and power electronics control algorithms.
• Manage Supplier Integration: Work closely with Full-Service Suppliers (FSS) to explain requirements, review technical proposals, manage the Statement of Work (SOW)/RFQ packages, and control requirement change-management.
• Drive Functional Safety & Cyber Security: Collaborate with safety specialists to implement ISO 26262 requirements, including Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), Functional Safety Requirements (FSR), and Technical Safety Requirements (TSR).
• Manage Network & Diagnostic Interfaces: Manage communication (CAN, LIN), and diagnostic (UDS) interfaces for the UCM.
• Coordinate Cross-Functional Reviews: Conduct software design and requirement reviews with interfacing Ford activities, Module Hardware, Power Net Controls, and supplier engineering.
• Support Validation & Testing: Align subsystem-level validation plans and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, with the defined requirements to ensure complete coverage.
• Agile Collaboration: Facilitate effective collaboration between JIRA Saga owners, product owners, and supplier software teams to ensure efficient and timely software delivery across programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer science
• 5+ years of experience in the automotive industry
• Strong knowledge of Embedded software, Electronics, Systems Engineering and functional specifications
• M.S. in electrical engineering or computer science (preferred)
• 3+ years of experience with software development (preferred)
• 3+ years of experience developing software or system level requirements (preferred)
• Experience with Software program management (preferred)
• Experience with MS Office, Vector tools such as CANalyzer, use of an oscilloscope and other troubleshooting tools (preferred)
