Job summary

KLA is seeking a Product Development Engineer in Ann Arbor to support electron-beam based metrology instruments. You will work in a cross-functional team to develop next-gen metrology tools, driving design improvements and validating systems performance.

Responsibilities include drafting specifications, testing designs, troubleshooting field issues, and coordinating with vendors. Travel for training/support worldwide is required; a strong background in precision instruments and high vacuum

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of precision instruments and control systems.
  • Proven problem-solving track record.
  • Experience with high vacuum systems.
  • Experience with electron beam instruments (e.g., scanning electron microscopes).
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Previous experience with process control instrument systems for semiconductor industry is preferred.

  • Interface closely with service, manufacturing and marketing teams to define and optimize system performance and resolve performance issues.
  • Write high-level technical reports to communicate issues, analysis, technical assessments, system status, best-known-methods, and engineering recommendations.
  • Design and drive multi-disciplinary experiments, write detailed test plans for systems testing.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors to develop and deliver sub-system products.

Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next‑generation devices to volume production quickly and cost‑effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA’s Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. Central Engineering is KLA’s largest engineering organization comprised of 9 Centers-of-Excellence (CoE) in various disciplines applied across all product groups in the company. These CoE include Handling & Automation, Precision Motion Control, Sensors & Image Acquisition, Platform Design, and Packaging Engineering, among others. Talent includes over 500 engineers across global centers in Israel, China, India, and the US. Each CoE contributes not just talent and deliverables per discipline toward product programs, but also subject matter expertise, best practices, roadmaps, specialized facilities, apparatus, models, and analytics. KLA is looking for a Product Development Engineer to support electron beam based metrology instruments developed in our engineering group in Ann Arbor. The engineer will work within a cross-functional team developing the next generation of KLA metrology tools!

In this role the candidate will be responsible for:

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; Master’s Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Bachelor’s Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years

Base Pay Range: $97,000.00 - $164,900.00 Annually
