Job summary

SharkNinja is seeking a Product Developer to drive the end-to-end lifecycle from concept to shelf, collaborating with Engineers, Marketers and cross-functional teams to deliver a 5-star experience.

You will analyze consumer needs, define specs, and own category performance while driving profitable programs and product enhancements across our portfolio.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in product development, product marketing, marketing, human factors engineering, or a related field – preferable at a consumer goods company.
• A passion for hair care or the beauty realm is a plus. Formal experience in beauty or haircare is beneficial.
• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Business, Marketing, Management, Engineering, or a combination of the above.
• A 100% on consumer-first perspective when introducing new products/processes or improving current ones.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across multi-functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentations to management.
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the Ninja business with development of profitable programs for key products, driving improvements and user research.
• Define, develop, and iterate product specifications aligning consumer wants with market opportunities.
• Own assigned categories' sales performance and identify new product opportunities to fill gaps.
• Lead competitive analyses to benchmark against competitors and identify improvements.
• Be the voice of legacy product lines and ensure insights are fed to NPD teams.
• Partner with Testing and Quality teams to define and manage quality and performance testing.
• Act as the product expert for cross-functional team questions and concerns.

Overview

The Product Development organization within SharkNinja drives our global product roadmap from concept to shelf through the constant lens of the consumer. We are the “product CEOs,” partnering cross-functionally with almost every other team within the business to drive high consumer satisfaction and business results. We are comprised of individuals from a variety of professional and educational backgrounds, from product marketing managers to consumer-focused engineers – but we all have one thing in common: we’re consistently striving to deliver a 5-star experience for every consumer on every product we bring to market.

Here are some of the EXCITING things you’ll get to do:

• Support the Ninja business with the development of successful and profitable programs for key products to ensure continued growth of the product portfolio – you will be responsible for the day-to-day business management and enhancement of some of our Shark product lines, including driving product improvements and optimizations, conducting user research, and partnering with Engineers, Marketers, and more on rolling these product enhancements out to ensure a continued 5-star experience
• Define, develop, and iterate product specifications, marrying consumer wants/needs, white space in the market, and product technologies as the primary consumer advocate
• Take ownership of your assigned categories’ sales performance – partnering with others in the company to identify what products are working/not working; and recommend new product opportunities to fill those gaps
• Lead competitive product analyses, giving your business partners insight into how Shark stacks up against the competition - and maintaining a clear lens on how we can constantly improve to make Shark the consumer’s top choice every time
• Be the voice of our legacy product lines: share insights and learnings from consumers and the market with Product Developers focused on NPD to ensure critical features and feedback are incorporated into next generation products
• Partner with SharkNinja Testing and Quality organizations to define, develop, and manage quality and performance testing procedures
• Act as the product “expert” for cross-functional team member questions and concerns

Attributes & Skills

• 2-4 years of experience in product development, product marketing, marketing, human factors engineering, or a related field – preferable at a consumer goods company.
• A passion for hair care or the beauty realm would make you stand out for this role. Formal experience working in the beauty or haircare product space (hair tools, cosmetics tools, etc.) is a plus.
• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Marketing, Management, Engineering, or a combination of the above
• A “100% on” consumer-first perspective when it comes to introducing new products/processes or improving current products
• A mindset geared toward building relationships across multi-functional teams, coupled with excellent interpersonal skills.
• COMMUNICATING FOR IMPACT, one of SharkNinja’s SUCCESS DRIVERS, is immensely critical in this role. Highly-effective communication skills – both written (presentation/email) and face-to-face (ability to host succinct, effective conversations that solve problems and ability to make effective presentations to all levels of management) – are required.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
• A desire to learn and grow in a passionate environment
• The ability to embrace transparency and shifting priorities while learning from each decision and focusing on the path forward

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary range for this position is displayed below. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Pay Range:

$65,600—$95,000 USD
