Castlewood Apparel Corp. in New York, NY is seeking a Product Developer/Design Assistant for our Activewear line. The role supports the design team, reports to the Design Director, and offers growth toward a full design position.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in fashion design, strong fabric and lab-dip evaluation skills, and proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, and MS Office. Hybrid work with in-office days is available.

• Minimum of 2 years fashion industry experience in design.
• Proficient in evaluating lab dips and fabric qualities.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and MS Suite.

Mansioni

• Evaluate lab dips, fabric qualities, prints and trims and communicate to factories.
• Prepare lab dip submissions for buyers and follow up.
• Track factory submissions and rejections.
• Maintain electronic and physical records of production approvals by season.
• Organize and send fabrics and trims to factories.
• Receive and distribute incoming factory packages.
• Conduct R&D for new design inspiration.
• Assist in creating and updating CADs and tech packs.

Salary: $65,000.00 Annually

Castlewood Apparel is seeking a Design / Product Development Assistant to join our Men's and Women's Activewear team. This unique position reports to the Design Director and supports the entire Design Team as needed offering growth opportunities to potentially move into a full design position.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate all lab dips, fabric qualities, print patterns, and trims, collaborating with the design team as needed and communicate all comments to the factories
• Prepare lab dip submits to send to buyers and follow up with them
• Track and follow up with the factories on all rejected submits
• Keep electronic and physical records of production approvals by season
• Organize and send packages with fabrics and trim qualities to factories
• Receive and distribute incoming packages from factories
• Research and development for new design inspiration
• Assist in creating and updating CADs and tech packs as needed
• Create selling tools i.e. color cards and swatch cards
• Work with factories on new fabric development for sampling

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years fashion industry experience in design
• Highly skilled to evaluate lab dips and fabric qualities with good judgement
• Able to multi-task and switch gears as needed
• Must be proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and MS Suite
• Highly organized / great communication skills / detail-oriented
• Must be a team player, open to taking direction, and able to work well under pressure
