Job summary

OpenAI in San Francisco, CA is seeking a product designer to shape Codex's future, collaborating with engineers, researchers, and fellow designers to create intuitive, high-quality AI developer tools.

The role focuses on 0–1 product work, fast iteration, and strong craft, with relocation assistance available and a hybrid model requiring 3 days in the office per week. You will own end-to-end design from concept to high-fidelity visuals and contribute to our design system.

Qualifications

• Strong technical background with production code experience.
• Portfolio showcasing strong UX, UI, and interaction design skills.
• Ability to thrive in 0→1 environments and handle ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the overall design and product direction of OpenAI products.
• Design and ship high-quality products and improvements, from early concepts to high-fidelity prototypes and visuals.
• Partner closely with engineering, product management, research, and design peers to define long-term strategy and short-term tactics.
• Engage in user research to better understand our users (software developers) and refine our products.
• Contribute to and evolve our design system.
• Help establish our design culture and grow our team.
