Job summary

Vantage Plastics in Lake Orion, MI is seeking a Product Designer to create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for injection molded products, applying mechanical design principles to tooling, fixtures, and automation. You will work with the Engineering Department, report to the Engineering Manager, and lead small R&D projects while maintaining ISO9001:2005 documentation and pursuing continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in product design, mechanical design, and/or automation design.
• Injection molded product experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D conceptual designs & 2D drawings for injection molded products.
• Develop ergonomic mechanisms for mechanical applications.
• Create prototype-intent 3D models and tooling files for suppliers.
• Create 3D CAD tooling fixtures for product processing.
• Update 3D CAD & prints after prototype/production tool changes.
• Ensure documentation including ISO9001:2005 where applicable.
• Lead small R&D projects.
• Apply design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly principles.
