SimSportGadget is seeking a Product Designer for an on-site, part-time role in Newark, NJ. You will design and improve physical products, iterating CAD with Blender renders and vector assets, and collaborate with the production team to ensure manufacturability.

You’ll work with Fusion 360, Onshape, SolidWorks, Blender and Illustrator to produce prototypes, renders, and visuals, while gaining exposure to basic electronics and soldering for prototypes.

Qualifications

• Experience using CAD tools such as Fusion 360, Onshape or SolidWorks.
• Proficiency in Blender for realistic product renders and texture/material setup.
• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator or equivalent vector design tools.
• Understanding of manufacturing principles and how design decisions affect production.
• Basic knowledge of Arduino or embedded electronics, or willingness to learn.
• Basic soldering skills or hands-on electronics experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and iterate product parts using CAD tools.
• Create designs for 3D printing, sheet metal, laser cutting, and CNC aluminum manufacturing.
• Produce realistic renders in Blender with proper lighting and materials.
• Create vector graphics and visual assets with Illustrator.
• Prototype, test, and refine designs with feedback from production.

• Support basic electronics integration including PCB and Arduino components.

Job description

SimSportGadget is hiring a Product Designer for an on-site role in Newark, NJ. This part-time position focuses on designing and improving physical products for production, combining CAD iteration with realistic Blender renders and vector asset creation, alongside collaboration with the production team to support manufacturability.

What you’ll do

• Design and iterate product parts using Fusion 360, Onshape, SolidWorks, or similar CAD tools
• Create designs optimized for 3D printing, sheet metal, laser cutting, and CNC aluminum manufacturing, accounting for strength, production efficiency, and manufacturing constraints
• Produce realistic product renders in Blender, including modeling, materials, lighting, and scene setup
• Create and edit vector graphics, product illustrations, and other visual assets using Adobe Illustrator or equivalent software
• Prototype, test, and refine product designs based on outcomes and findings
• Partner with the production team to improve manufacturability and reliability
• Support basic electronics integration, including PCB and Arduino-based components
• Complete basic soldering and wiring for prototypes and testing
• Document designs, revisions, and assembly notes

What you bring
