About the role

The right person for this role will be comfortable switching and juggling priorities across multiple Luma initiatives at once, moving to wherever the platform needs support most. They will act as a design coach to product owners, helping them stay aligned with Luma's design standards as they build their own prototypes in Claude. A core and ongoing part of the job is front‑end fluency: generating and understanding front‑end code, then building and managing components in Storybook via GitHub so every component stays aligned to Luma's Claude Design Kit.

Components vetted and approved by engineering are a good reference point for the caliber and independence expected in this role. Success looks like that becoming the norm rather than the exception: a well‑documented Storybook library, managed through GitHub, where every component is aligned to the Claude Design Kit and any front‑end engineer can pick one up and know exactly what to expect, cutting the current multi‑week variance down to a consistent, predictable turnaround. Success also looks like working and collaborating closely with engineers throughout the build, so that production consistently adheres to the prototypes that are created and rework is reduced.

What you'll do

• Own the hand‑off between product owners' and engineering, coaching them to build in line with Luma's design standards
• Act as the primary point of accountability for component accuracy: making sure what ships to production matches the approved design by working closely with FE engineers
• Create and manage components in Storybook via GitHub, with each one aligned to Luma's Claude Design Kit
• Partner with front‑end and full‑stack engineers to define and continually refine a consistent, documented process for how prototypes get consumed.
• Act as a design coach and consultant across Luma's initiatives, comfortable switching and juggling multiple initiatives at once across different parts of the platform, guiding others on design best practices and advising product owners on how to get the best results from Claude prototypes.
• As the component hand‑off process matures, take on user research work: persona development, usability testing, and workshops

Qualifications

Required

• 3-5 years experience building or maintaining a design system or component library. Component creation and management within Storybook and GitHub is central to the job.
• Hands‑on experience using AI‑assisted design/dev tools such as Claude to build and iterate on UI components that stay aligned to a defined design system (Luma's Claude Design Kit).
• Strong product design fundamentals: UX/UI judgment, and the ability to preserve design intent and fidelity when translating a design into functioning code.

Preferred

• Background in financial services or fintech, ideally direct exposure to financial advisor software or wealth management platforms (structured products, annuities, life insurance, brokerage/advisory tools).
• Experience with user research methods (interviews, persona development, usability/workshop facilitation) and interest in growing that side of the role over time.

The pay range for this role is:

150,000 - 170,000 USD per year (New York)

115,000 - 140,000 USD per year (Cincinnati)
