Job summary

Veterans Sourcing Group in New York seeks a Product Designer to evolve a financial health and wellness education platform from MVP to a mature tool. Reporting to the Director of Product Design, you'll focus on detailed design, production handoff, and continuous enhancements across web and mobile.

We value 5+ years in digital product design, strong Figma and prototyping skills, accessibility expertise, and a track record shipping in agile environments.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of digital product design experience; portfolio required.
  • Experience in complex, data-heavy, compliance-driven environments.
  • Agile collaboration with engineering from discovery through delivery.
  • Strong UX, interaction, and visual design skills.
  • Proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools.
  • Research- and data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and facilitation skills.
  • Accessibility knowledge (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
  • Experience designing AI-powered features with Responsible AI and privacy-by-design awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-fidelity, dev-ready screens including flows, states, edge cases, responsive breakpoints, and annotated specs.
  • Use and extend the design system for consistency and scalability.
  • Package designs with clear interaction notes, content, and accessibility annotations.
  • Own visual QA -- review implementations, log defects, and resolve issues before release.
  • Support continuous delivery of new features and enhancements across sprints.
  • Design new tools and modules (e.g., learning content, calculators, goal tracking).
  • Use analytics and user feedback to prioritize fixes and translate insights into designs.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and Content to shape sprint plans.
  • Manage workload across concurrent sprints, balancing near-term and upcoming work.
  • Respond quickly during build, unblock engineers, and make pragmatic tradeoffs.
  • Track experience metrics (task completion, engagement, satisfaction) and use them to shape enhancements.
  • Advocate for the customer with evidence-based alignment.

Schedule: Hybrid -- Travel onsite for meetings as needed
Duration: 10 months, possible extension | 37.5 hours/week

About the Role

What You'll Do
Design & Handoff

Experience
  • 5 years of digital product design with a track record of shipping high-quality work
  • Strong detailed design, design systems, responsive design, and developer handoff skills
  • Experience iterating on live features post-launch
  • Experience working closely with engineers in agile sprint environments
  • Experience presenting to senior stakeholders and defending design decisions
Skills
  • Strong interaction, visual design, and UX writing collaboration
  • Expert in Figma (components, variables, auto layout, prototyping, Dev Mode)
  • Comfortable with whiteboarding tools (FigJam, Miro)
  • Solid WCAG and inclusive design knowledge
  • Comfortable using qualitative quantitative inputs to prioritize and iterate
  • Strong communication and cross-functional alignment
  • Meticulous attention to detail with pragmatic prioritization
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Interaction Design, Fine Arts, HCI, or equivalent experience
Nice to Have
  • Financial services, financial wellness, or regulated industry experience
  • Experience designing educational or behavior-change products
  • A/B testing, personalization, and optimization experience
  • AI-powered feature design with Responsible AI and privacy-by-design
