Job summary

Oil Filtration Systems in Texas is seeking a Product/Design Technician to support development and manufacturing through design practices, 2D/3D CAD, testing and analysis.

The role requires a two-year Engineering Technology degree or equivalent, experience with CAD systems; SolidWorks preferred. You will collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to develop components and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Two year Engineering Technology/related degree or equivalent course work in pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Engineering.
  • Experience with both 2D and 3D CAD systems; SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • Good understanding of mechanical concepts and usage.
  • Ability to utilize engineering software tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office products with the ability to utilize and apply advanced spreadsheets and analytical techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Develop bills of material, drawings and documentation including design criteria, part numbers, assembly diagrams and standard products.
  • Responsible for product line design and application of products to customer requirements.
  • Convey information on new or updated products to involved departments and personnel.
  • Work with manufacturing, purchasing and sales on material and process selection.
  • Direct maintenance of department technical data on component parts, drawings and specs.
  • Provide manufacturing support to resolve machining/assembly problems.
  • With engineering direction, evaluate disposition of returned product and make root-cause recommendations.
  • May conduct analytical studies on proposals to develop product design (fluid handling devices, valves, vessels, equipment).
  • May manage projects from conception through release for production.
  • Interact with all levels of employees, suppliers, customers and peers.

What is a Product/Design Technician?

A Product/Design Technician will complete assigned design projects in support of development and manufacturing activities and regulatory requirements by using thorough knowledge of design practices and good engineering concepts. Perform a variety of engineering work in design and development of products and their component parts, 2D/3D CAD, testing and analysis.

What Were Looking For

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop bills of material, drawings and documentation to include design criteria, part numbers, assembly diagrams and standard products, etc.
  • Responsibility for product line design, application of products to customer requirements.
  • Convey information on new or updated products to the involved departments and personnel.
  • Work with manufacturing, purchasing and sales on selecting materials and processes.
  • Direct maintenance of certain department technical data on component parts, customer drawings and specifications.
  • Provide manufacturing support to resolve machining/assembly problems.
  • With engineering direction, may evaluate and supervise disposition of returned product (RMA's) and make recommendations based on root cause analysis.
  • With engineering direction, may conduct analytical studies on engineering proposals utilizing and applying engineering principles, research data and proposed product specifications to develop design for products, such as: fluid handling devices, valves, pressure vessels, equipment, machinery, associated and subsystem components and structures.
  • With engineering direction, may manage projects from conception level through release for production.
  • Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.
  • Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
  • Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
  • Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
  • Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Education
  • Two year Engineering Technology/related degree or equivalent course work in pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Engineering
  • Experiencewith both 2D and 3D CAD systems, SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • Good understanding of mechanical concepts and usage.
  • Ability to utilize engineering software tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office products with the ability to utilize and apply advanced spreadsheets and analytical techniques.
Physical and Technical Environment
  • Minimal lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop in a normal office environment.
  • Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs, utilizing elevator.
  • Normal vision and manual dexterity for office duties.
  • Able to read, write, follow verbal commands and communicate with others in Standard English required.
  • Normal office environment, on-going strict deadlines and changing project assignments.
