Job summary

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. seeks a Product Design Engineer to drive new product development, line extensions, sustaining engineering, and cost reduction.

You will design robust, manufacturable components using SolidWorks, apply GD&T, and analyze tolerances to ensure quality and manufacturability. The role collaborates with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, leading DFMEA and DFMA initiatives while supporting prototypes, testing, and supplier engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3+ years in manufacturing or R&D environment.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and MS Office tools.
• Strong GD&T and tolerance analysis skills (CETOL preferred).
• Experience with DFMA, DFMEA, BOM management (Oracle preferred).
• Lifecycle product support from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Design line extensions and derivative configurations from concept to production release.
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings per standards; apply GD&T.
• Conduct tolerance stack-ups and variation analysis.
• Develop predictive models for mechanical motion; perform DFMEA activities.
• Lead DFMA initiatives to improve cost, quality, and throughput.
• Support sustaining engineering and corrective actions with cross‑functional teams.
• Manage changes in PDM/ERP systems; document revisions and specs.
