Job summary

Sherwin-Williams seeks a Product Data Specialist to manage regulatory data for products manufactured and sold outside North America, collaborating with international teams and the Product Stewardship group.

Primary duties include updating global regulatory databases, training field users, and ensuring accurate data for SDS, PSDs and other regulatory documents, with a focus on data quality and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree in physical science or engineering.
• Prior regulatory affairs or product stewardship experience or internship is required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be at least eighteen years of age.
• Preferred: Bachelor's in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science, or related field.
• Two years' experience in regulatory affairs or product stewardship (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Update regulatory product databases globally in a timely, accurate manner.
• Train and monitor field users on product data applications and SDS/PSD document uploads.
• Identify data needed for automatic loads and resolve data discrepancies.
• Assist with data integration testing and go-live activities.
• Store and manage historical product data, both electronic and physical.
• Maintain SOPs and support product stewardship projects and software upgrades.

Job description

The Product Data Specialist supports the Sherwin-Williams global coatings business by managing product and regulatory data. The Specialist supports products manufactured and sold outside of North America and works extensively with our international businesses and Product Stewardship team. The Specialist helps maintain critical business processes such as Safety Data Sheet and label generation.

Manage regulatory product database updates globally

• Complete timely and accurate updates to regulatory product databases to ensure that downstream processes function properly.
• Train, monitor, and assist site users on the processes to update the HEARS Product Database for their products.
• Identify, from multiple sources, all data needed to complete automatic data loads.
• Under guidance and supervision troubleshoot and resolve problems with the application and/or data. Escalate uncertain cases.
• Under guidance and supervision develop and implement procedures to ensure accurate addition of new products and updates to existing products when significant changes have occurred.
• Provide assistance with integration efforts by setting up identified products for testing and go-live.
• Determine procedures to ensure new product information is sent to the database.
• Reconcile data differences between different sources. Obtain missing data as necessary and escalated uncertain cases.

Manage and train field users in product database applications

• Train and monitor users of the product data application.
• Train and monitor users of the content management application for uploading Safety Data Sheets, Product Data Sheets, and other documents into document repository.
• Manage the operation of external links to web-based repositories of Safety Data Sheets and other regulatory documents.

Manage electronic & physical storage of historical product data

• Acquire historical data for facilities.
• Devise and implement strategies for storage of electronic and physical historical finished good Safety Data Sheets and other document files.
• Provide support for document requests from Sherwin-Williams legal counsel or other internal personnel.

Continuous improvement

Maintain documentation for projects and standardized documents such as Standard Operating Procedures. Perform specific tasks for product stewardship projects. Support software upgrades as needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in physical science or engineering
• Prior relevant employment experience or internship in a regulatory affairs, product stewardship or technical role
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future for employment visa status
• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age

Preferred:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
• 2 years' experience in Regulatory affairs or Product Stewardship function.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Good planning and organizational skills.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
