Job summary

Teradyne is seeking a Product Compliance Engineer for our North Reading, MA office to lead safety and EMC compliance across multiple divisions. You will partner with engineering teams to ensure early risk assessment, coordinate certification testing, and maintain documentation such as Test Reports, CDFs, and TCFs.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5+ years in product safety/compliance, with strong knowledge of IEC/EN 61010-1 and related standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years in product safety and compliance engineering.
  • Experience in product development preferred.
  • Strong understanding of IEC/EN 61010-1 standards.
  • Familiarity with SEMI S2/S8 and IEC 60825-1 is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of EMC principles preferred.
  • Hands-on product safety testing capability.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to drive compliance to closure.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international electrical safety standards/regulations (SEMI S2, NFPA 70, EN61010, EN60204).
  • Compliance experience with ATE or highly integrated electrical equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage product safety and EMC compliance activities with North Reading, MA teams.
  • Collaborate with design teams to drive early risk assessment and pre-compliance work.
  • Coordinate testing events with certification bodies and labs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards (CE, NRTL, SEMI, etc.).
  • Conduct product safety analysis from schematics to system level.
  • Provide formal safety recommendations to engineering teams.
  • Maintain Test Reports, CDFs, and TCFs for ongoing compliance.
  • Coordinate EMC pre-compliance and validation activities.
  • Share best practices for safety compliance across teams.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.

Teradyne has an immediate need for a Product Compliance Engineer at our office located in North Reading, MA. This role will support the day-to-day product safety activities across various Teradyne Test Divisions.

  • Manage product safety and EMC compliance activities in collaboration with North Reading, MA based development teams.
  • Integrate with design teams to drive early risk assessment and pre-compliance work.
  • Coordinate internal and external testing events, including interfacing with certification suppliers, competent bodies, and test labs.
  • Ensure compliance with all appropriate safety regulations and standards, including CE, NRTL, SEMI, and others.
  • Conduct product safety analysis from circuit-level schematics/wiring diagrams to system-level designs.
  • Provide formal safety recommendations to engineering teams based on analysis.
  • Ensure continuing compliance by maintaining Test Reports, Constructional Data Forms (CDF), and Technical Construction Files (TCF).
  • Coordinate EMC pre-compliance and validation activities.
  • Communicate and deploy best practices for safety compliance.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required, up to 10%.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required, Master’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in product safety and compliance engineering
  • Experience in product development preferred

  • Basic understanding of EMC principles preferred

  • Knowledge of domestic and international electrical safety standards/regulations, including SEMI (S2), National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), and European Standards (EN61010, EN60204)
  • Compliance experience with ATE (Automated Test Equipment) or highly integrated electrical equipment preferred
Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $104,800-$167,600. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan

This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
