Job summary

Mutual of Omaha is seeking a Product Compliance Consultant to research, interpret, and implement federal and state regulatory requirements affecting Medicare Supplement, Dental, and Hospital Indemnity products. You will collaborate with Legal, Product Development, Underwriting, Claims, and Operations to ensure forms, disclosures, and communications meet regulatory and corporate standards.

The role leads regulatory change management, coordinates state filings, and reviews compliance initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing regulatory filings and inter-department coordination.

Job description

The Product Compliance Consultant is responsible for researching, analyzing, interpreting, and implementing federal and state regulatory requirements impacting Medicare Supplement, Dental, and Hospital Indemnity products. This role serves as a compliance subject matter expert and works closely with Product Development, Legal, Compliance, Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Customer Service, and other business partners to ensure product, form, advertising, and operational compliance with applicable laws and corporate standards.

This position leads and coordinates complex compliance initiatives, regulatory change management activities, state filing support, and compliance reviews. The consultant evaluates regulatory developments, identifies business impacts, recommends solutions, and helps ensure timely implementation of regulatory requirements across Senior Health products. The role requires significant independent judgment, strong collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing regulatory environment.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:
  • Estimated Salary (Levels have variable responsibilities and qualifications):
    • Sr. Compliance Analyst: $75,500-$97,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
    • Compliance Consultant: $86,000-$114,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
  • 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Monitor, research, interpret, and communicate federal and state regulatory requirements impacting Medicare Supplement, Dental, and Hospital Indemnity products, ensuring timely compliance and implementation of regulatory changes.
  • Serve as a compliance subject matter expert and advisor to business partners by providing guidance on regulatory requirements, compliance risks, product development, and operational initiatives.
  • Draft, review, and maintain policy forms, state amendments, disclosures, customer communications, marketing materials, and other compliance-related documents to ensure adherence to regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Manage and support state filing activities, including filing preparation, regulatory correspondence, objection responses, approval tracking, and coordination of implementation efforts with internal stakeholders
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Demonstrated experience in insurance compliance, regulatory affairs, product development, state filings, legal research, or a related field, with knowledge of individual health insurance products; Medicare Supplement, Dental, and Hospital Indemnity experience preferred.
  • Strong ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply complex federal and state laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and insurance contract requirements to business operations.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess regulatory impacts, identify compliance risks, and develop practical business recommendations and solutions.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborate across departments, influence stakeholders, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and adaptable professional with strong business judgment, initiative, and proficiency in technology and regulatory systems; able to work independently and within cross-functional teams.

  • Able to work at our office located in Omaha, NE, in a hybrid environment.
PREFERRED:
  • Five or more years of experience in health insurance compliance, regulatory affairs, product development, state filings, or a related field supporting insurance products and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of Medicare Supplement, Dental, Hospital Indemnity, Medicare-related, or other individual health insurance products and associated regulatory environments.
  • Experience managing regulatory filings and interactions with state insurance departments, including SERFF submissions, objection responses, audits, market conduct examinations, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Proven ability to draft and review insurance policy forms, disclosures, customer communications, websites, advertising, and marketing materials for regulatory compliance.
  • Professional insurance or compliance certification preferred; advanced legal or regulatory education, including a Juris Doctor (JD), is considered a plus.
