Job summary

First Chicago Insurance Company is seeking an eager and diligent intern to join its Product & Actuarial Analysis Department. This hands-on role offers exposure to insurance terminology, rate, rule, and form filings, and cross-functional collaboration on new product initiatives.

The position targets college students or recent graduates with a 3.0+ GPA, strong communication, and quantitative skills. It requires the ability to work 40 hours per week in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Recently pursuing or having a bachelor's degree with 3.0+ GPA (out of 4.0).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent quantitative, organizational, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Basic knowledge of insurance industry is a plus but not required.
• Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Internship not eligible for university course credits.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week.
• Temporary seasonal position and not benefit eligible.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, manage, and contribute to projects up to moderate complexity.
• Analyze competitor product rates, features, and contract languages.
• Assist in creation of rate, rule, and form filings for Department of Insurance submissions.
• Assist in new product developments and existing product enhancements across departments.
• Conduct research and provide observations on target markets.
• Create and update monthly/quarterly reports.
• Work with IT to implement basic system and web rate changes and enhancements.
• Build strong relationships among team members to ensure cooperation on objectives.
