Job summary

About the Opportunity
The primary purpose of the producer/reporter is to develop and produce original, multi-platform content focused primarily on science, innovation, the environment and state issues for PBS North Carolina and its audiences. Reporting to the Senior Producer, this position will be given deadline-based assignments in alignment with production calendars for episodic broadcast programs as well as digital media platforms. This position is responsible for managing assigned stories and projects from concept through final delivery while working within the editorial vision, standards and priorities established by the Original Productions team.

Working collaboratively with the Senior Producer, this role will coordinate production staff, freelancers and community partners in the production of stories including researching ideas, developing pitches, identifying interview subjects, coordinating field production, writing scripts, editing and managing productions through delivery.

This position will take an 'audience first' approach and serve PBS NC's audiences through produced media content. The position will require collaboration with leaders of the greater PBS NC Content, Marketing, Creative Design & Social Media teams. The position requires skills in editorial judgment, project management, public media standards, and multi-platform storytelling. The position must balance strong storytelling and editorial rigor with deadlines, available resources, and production budgets.

This position will represent PBS NC's Content Division in partnership projects.

This position will work onsite five days per week atPBS North Carolina located in Research Triangle Park, NC. UNC System employeesare generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commutingdistance of their assigned duty station.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills
High school diploma or equivalency and four years of progressive experience in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment, of which one year is supervisory; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Required Competencies
Non-linear editing experience in Adobe Creative Suite or similarly structured video software and a proven ability to deliver a media project from concept through post-production delivery.
