Job summary

Spectrum News in Saint Petersburg is seeking a Producer who will be the heart of the newsroom, leading local coverage and deciding which stories matter for our community and beyond.

You’ll collaborate with colleagues to shape broadcasts, transform pitches into compelling on‑air pieces, and tell honest stories across multiple platforms in a fast‑paced environment.

You’ll value accuracy, curiosity, and teamwork, and will be prepared for varying shifts and occasional field work as stories develop.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in television news.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Knowledge of social media platforms and basic editing skills (Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro).
• Go-getter personality with excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Willing to travel to cover important stories in your neighborhood and interact with the community.
• Ability to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes.

You'll collaborate with your colleagues to tell the news that matter in your community and around the country, making decisions about what to air and when, and how to keep our audience informed.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM NEWS

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Television news – 2+ years
• Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience
• Technical Skills: Knowledge of social media platforms and basic editing skills (Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro)
• Skills: Go-getter personality, and excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
• Travel Ability: Must be open to travel to discover the important stories in your neighborhood and willing to interact with the community
• Schedule: Ability to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of general office computer software, newsroom software, and basic non-linear editing systems
• May be required to lift up to five pounds

Working Conditions

• Works primarily inside a climate-controlled environment throughout the year but might be assigned field duties on occasion
• Semi-noisy newsroom setting
