Job summary

WLTX-TV C in Columbia, part of TEGNA, seeks an innovative Producer to shape daily newscasts with original storytelling across platforms.

You’ll craft engaging segments, meet tight deadlines, and leverage data analytics to guide show content while using live footage, graphics and sound to captivate audiences. A valid driver’s license is required for field coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, or related field.
• 0-1 years of news content experience.
• Excellent communication skills are essential.
• Strong journalistic judgement and understanding of professional journalism.
• Proficiency in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content.

Current driver's licence and ability to operate news gathering vehicle to and from various locations is required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred in journalism, communications or related field or equivalent years of experience.
• 0-1 years of news content experience.
• Top‑notch communication skills are an absolute must.
• Solid journalistic judgement and a news philosophy that emphasizes accurate, fair and unique local content, along with community engagement.
• Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism.
• Skills in producing engaging, content‑driven newscasts and digital content.
• Strong social media skills, including an active news hound presence on your preferred social platforms.
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under time pressure deadlines.
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
• ENPS and Edius system experience preferred.
