Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies seeks an enthusiastic store associate to deliver outstanding customer service in Mesa, AZ. You will help maintain a clean, safe environment and support the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals.

Responsibilities include promoting corporate brands, assisting customers, stocking and labeling merchandise, and ensuring product quality and freshness. Flexibility with shifts and a focus on safety are essential to succeed in this fast-paced role.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Current food handlers permit once employed.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions
• Assist with the preparation produce platters/trays
• Inform customers of produce specials
• Recommend items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory merchandise
• Review/inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
• Display a positive attitude
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents
• Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity to store management
• Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment
• Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
• Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults
