Job summary

Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry is seeking an Agriculture Specialist in East Baton Rouge Parish to support the FSMA Produce Safety Rule by inspecting fruit and vegetable farms, promoting the program, and educating growers across the state.

The role requires travel within the state and beyond, adherence to policies, and collaboration with FDA partners under a full-time appointment with SER pay rates of $19.23–$20.58 per hour. Comprehensive state employee benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in administrative services, compliance, or inspection roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in forestry, agriculture, biological, chemical, environmental, health, IT, math or business.

Responsibilities

• Inspect produce farms to ensure FDA FSMA PSR compliance.
• Promote the Produce Safety Program and educate farmers statewide.
• Coordinate education and outreach activities related to the program.
