Job summary

Berkeley Bowl is seeking a Produce Department Manager/Supervisor to lead fast-paced packaging and customer service in the produce section. The role emphasizes accurate packaging, inventory awareness, and maintaining a clean, safe work area in a busy grocery environment.

Responsibilities include price barganing items, assisting in fulfilling special orders, and ensuring products are well presented on the sales floor.

Qualifications

• Basic math and ability to understand written and spoken English.
• Detail oriented with accuracy in packaging and labeling.
• Ability to handle multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Shifts include early morning, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Package products neatly in appropriate containers and quantities.
• Promptly alert the department manager to low inventories or out-of-stock items.
• Price bargained items when applicable.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and hygienic workstation for food handling.
• Adhere to safety and health codes and use equipment safely.
• Answer customer questions and assist shoppers in the department and store.
• Assist in filling special orders and keeping sales floor organized.
• Ensure products are fully stocked and well presented across the floor.
• Support in keeping the department compliant with store policies.

Job description

Produce Department Manager and Supervisor.

Purpose

To quickly and efficiently package produce while working in a fast paced, dynamic produce department.

Responsibilities

Package products neatly, in the appropriate container, and in proper quantity per bag.

Alert department manager to low inventories or out-of-stock supply items.

Price bargained items.

Maintain work station and storage areas that are neat, clean, and hygienic for food handling at all times.

Adhere to all policies and procedures regarding safety and health codes.

Use department equipment as intended in a safe manner, reporting any equipment in need of repair.

Answer questions and help customers in the department and throughout the store.

Assist in filling special orders.

Assist in keeping sales floor clean, neat and organized.

As well as product fully stocked and well presented.

Knowledge & Skills

Basic math skills required. Able to understand written and spoken English. Detail oriented with the ability to identify items accurately. Ability to handle multiple demands in a fast paced environment.

Education & Training

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Other

Must be able to lift 50lbs.

Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Able to work in areas of temperature fluctuations.

Willingness to work various shifts including early morning, evenings, and weekends

Pay Range

$19.61 - $28.25 per hour
