Job summary

Meijer in Battle Creek is seeking a Food Clerk to help create a welcoming store experience. You will share product knowledge, assist customers, and keep displays fresh and neat across Fresh departments. This role requires a customer‑first mindset and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.

You may work across Meat, Seafood, Bakery, Deli, Produce and Grocery, stocking and merchandising while following safety procedures. Prior retail or food service is helpful but not required.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing role experience helps but is not required.
• Ability to learn and use store technology.
• Strong listening and communication skills.
• Willingness to stay active in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Ability to follow store processes and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service with product knowledge and a friendly attitude.
• Help customers locate items and answer questions.
• Maintain fresh, well-organized product displays.
• Stock, rotate, and merchandise products per standards.
• Use store technology to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Support multiple departments including Meat, Seafood, Bakery, Deli, Produce and Grocery.
• Contribute to a smooth, safe store operation on every shift.

What You'll Do

As a Food Clerk, you play a key role in creating a fresh, welcoming, and well‑run store experience within our Fresh departments.

You’ll:

• Build positive connections with customers and teammates
• Share product knowledge and help customers find what they need
• Maintain full, fresh, and visually appealing product displays
• Stock, rotate, and merchandise product according to standards
• Use technology to complete tasks efficiently and accurately
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and quality procedures
• Work across departments including Meat, Seafood, Bakery, Deli, Produce and Grocery
• Support other tasks as needed to keep operations running smoothly
