Job summary

Albertsons Companies is seeking a Produce Department Manager to oversee daily operations, ensure freshness and presentation, and drive sales through strong merchandising and customer service. This hands-on leadership role directly impacts store performance and customer trust by maintaining high standards in the Produce Department.

You will coach and develop produce associates, manage labor and inventory, implement planograms, and enforce food safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily Produce Department operations focusing on freshness, quality, and customer service.
  • Provide knowledgeable service and ensure associates have strong product knowledge.
  • Execute merchandising programs, planograms, seasonal sets, and promotional displays.
  • Maintain attractive produce displays and manage rotation and freshness.
  • Manage labor schedules and train/coach produce associates.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and company standards.

Main responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of the Produce Department with a focus on freshness, quality, and customer service
  • Deliver knowledgeable, friendly service and ensure associates demonstrate strong product knowledge
  • Execute corporate merchandising programs, planograms, seasonal sets, and promotional displays
  • Maintain full, fresh, clean, and visually appealing produce displays at all times
  • Manage product rotation, remove damaged or unsellable items, and maintain freshness standards
  • Order, receive, inspect, and store product following food safety and rotation guidelines
  • Manage shrink through inventory controls, root cause identification, and waste‑reduction strategies
  • Build and manage labor schedules aligned with business needs
  • Train, coach, and develop produce associates while maintaining a positive team environment
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, safety, and company operational standards

  • Ability to review sales, shrink, and inventory data to drive results
  • Ability to train and develop associates
  • Ability to lift, move, and stack product and work in coolers and refrigerated environments

  • Other requirements: Flexible availability including weekends and holidays; reliable attendance; compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and the Code of Business Conduct
