Job summary

Kroger in Ann Arbor is seeking a Produce Department Lead to direct and supervise all functions and activities of the Produce department. You will support day-to-day operations, maintain a safe and inviting shopping environment, and work to meet department sales and profit goals.

Responsibilities include enforcing safety and quality standards, training staff, managing schedules, and communicating effectively with customers and associates. Knowledge of produce and retail operations is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
• Work in refrigerated areas for hours at a time and regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
• Implement merchandising promotional plan for the department.
• Keep all department associates current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Help to monitor and control expenses for the department.
• Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note any discrepancies in inventory.
• Help to ensure price integrity including shelf tags and promotional signs.
• Assist in the inventory process.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
• Report all safety risks, issues, customer or employee accidents and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud.
