Job summary

Food City in Chilhowie, VA is seeking an entry-level team member to support the grocery department with friendly, efficient customer service. You will assist the produce team with ordering and display, stock products, and help maintain freshness and cleanliness across the department.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to meet standard Physical, Mental, and Visual demands.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals on a daily basis.
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient, courteous customer service in support of the store mission.
• Assist produce manager in ordering, receiving, and displaying products for processing.
• Rotate merchandise during stocking to maintain freshness and quality.
• Keep department clean following company standards and safety guidelines.
• Follow Food Safety program and sanitize work area twice daily.
• Attend on-site shifts in line with attendance policies.

Essential Job Functions:

• Ensure efficient and courteous customer service at all times in support of the company mission to “Run the Best Store in Town!”
• Maintain a positive attitude; create an atmosphere of friendliness and fun through flexibility and teamwork.
• Generate a positive, friendly, and fun working environment with a customer first initiative by greeting and speaking to customers, provide prompt, courteous, and efficient customer service.
• Assist produce manager in ordering, receiving, and displaying all product for processing
• Rotate all merchandise when stocking to ensure freshness and quality
• Clean department according to company standards
• Shock all green leaf vegetables
• Assist in unloading trucks and breaking down product
• Core pineapples
• Follow the company food safety program
• Keep workstation and area around workstation neat and clean
• Department is to be sanitized and cleaned at least twice a day
• Responsible for attending on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies
